Privacy & Cookie Policy

This Privacy Notice governs the manner in which The Tuition Centre, operating as www.thetuitioncentre.ie, collects, uses, maintains, and discloses information collected from users of its website. It applies to all staff, teachers, parents/guardians, and students. The Tuition Centre is committed to handling your personal information in compliance with all relevant laws and regulations, including the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.

It also covers MyMathsTest at www.ttcexambuilder.ie. The section headed "MyMathsTest" below sets out what that service additionally collects.

To access and use our services, we may collect the following personal data:

• First and last name
• Email address
• Billing address
• Phone number

We collect and process personal data fairly and only to the extent necessary to provide you with the information or services you require. We ensure that the data we hold is adequate, relevant, and not excessive for the purposes for which it was obtained.

We use your personal data for the following purposes:

• To provide educational online services to students
• To improve, personalise and expand our website
• To inform students about other relevant courses that may assist them
• To keep students informed of future courses
• To comply with legislative and administrative requirements

We have implemented necessary measures to prevent unauthorized access to or disclosure of personal data. We partner with market leaders in their respective fields to ensure the security of your data.

Our legal bases for processing your personal data include:

• Performance of a contract: Processing is necessary for the performance of a contract to which you are a party or to take steps at your request before entering into a contract.
• Legal obligation: Processing is necessary for compliance with a legal obligation to which we are subject.
• Legitimate interests: Processing is necessary for the purposes of our legitimate interests, provided these are not overridden by your rights and interests.

Protecting the privacy of children is especially important. We do not knowingly collect or maintain information from individuals under the age of 13, and no part of our website is structured to attract anyone under 13.

Under the GDPR, you have the following rights regarding your personal data:

• Right of access: You can request access to your personal data held by The Tuition Centre.
• Right to rectification: You can request correction of any inaccurate or incomplete personal data.
• Right to erasure: You can request deletion of your personal data, except data we are required to keep in accordance with the law.
• Right to restrict processing: You can request that we limit the processing of your personal data under certain circumstances.
• Right to data portability: You can request to receive your personal data in a structured, commonly used, and machine-readable format.
• Right to object: You can object to the processing of your personal data under certain circumstances.

We will not retain your personal data longer than necessary to fulfill the purposes for which it was collected. We will delete your personal data upon request, except for data we are required to keep in accordance with legal obligations. We periodically review and delete portions of your personal data as necessary.

You can withdraw your consent to be contacted about other relevant or future courses at any time by sending a request to: admin@thetuitioncentre.ie.

Transfers of personal data from Ireland to non-EEA (European Economic Area) countries are governed by Chapter V of the GDPR. Such transfers are permitted either where there is a European Commission adequacy decision in place or, alternatively, where appropriate safeguards are implemented, such as standard contractual clauses (SCCs) or binding corporate rules (BCRs), under Article 46 of the GDPR. Derogations may also apply in limited circumstances under Article 49 of the GDPR.

Cookies are small pieces of code sent from websites to your device and used to store information by your web browser. Our use of cookies and other technologies may collect information such as your IP address, operating system, browser type, and the frequency and length of your visits to our website. This information is treated as your personal information under the terms of this Privacy Notice.

We use cookies and other technologies to:

• Keep track of how you interact with our website
• Target advertising
• Monitor how you access and download our materials
• Offer functionality on our website, including social media plug-ins and sharing

In addition to the personal data listed above, MyMathsTest collects:

• Google account information: When you sign in with Google we receive your name, email address and Google account identifier. We never receive or store your Google password.
• Tuition Centre membership status: We check the email address you sign in with against The Tuition Centre’s student records, to confirm you are entitled to use MyMathsTest. We check only whether an account exists and is active; we do not copy your course or payment details into MyMathsTest.
• Your study activity: The questions you mark as complete, the exam papers you build and save, and any question difficulty ratings you submit.
• Your study preferences: Your level (Higher or Ordinary), target Leaving Certificate grade, and school year, where you choose to set them.

• To sign you in, and to keep you signed in during a session
• To confirm that you hold an active Tuition Centre account
• To save your progress and preferences so they are there when you return
• To understand which parts of the tool are used, so we can improve them

We do not use any of this for advertising, and we do not sell it. MyMathsTest does not use advertising or tracking cookies.

MyMathsTest is operated using the following service providers: Google (sign-in), Supabase (database and file storage), Vercel (website hosting and anonymous usage analytics), LearnWorlds (Tuition Centre student records), and Vimeo and TechSmith Screencast (worked solution videos).

These providers act only on our instructions. They may use your information solely to provide their service to us, and never for their own purposes. In data protection terms they are our processors, not parties we have shared your data with. This is what clause 15 of our Terms of Use means when it says we will never share your contact information with a third party: we do not sell, rent, or pass your information to anyone for their own use. Some of these providers may process data outside the EEA, under the safeguards described in "International Data Transfers" above.

MyMathsTest sets one essential cookie, which holds your sign-in session in encrypted form on your own device and expires after 24 hours. It is required for the service to work and cannot be switched off while you are signed in. MyMathsTest does not use cookies for advertising.

The rights set out under "Data Subject Rights" above apply equally to the information MyMathsTest holds. If you ask us to delete your data, we will delete your MyMathsTest progress and preferences. Contact admin@thetuitioncentre.ie.

We regularly review our Privacy Notice to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations. Any changes we make will be posted on this page and will be effective upon posting. The general sections of this Privacy Notice were last updated on March 14, 2025. The MyMathsTest sections were added on 2 September 2026.
